WHY BECOME A MEMBER

More Than a Museum Pass. A Community.

Members are at the heart of everything we do. When you join, you're not just buying admission — you're investing in the continued life of Mason County's story. You'll connect with fellow history enthusiasts, access exclusive programming, and get behind-the-scenes glimpses of the preservation work that most visitors never see.

Whether you're a lifelong Ludington resident, a seasonal visitor who returns each summer, or a researcher tracing Michigan roots, there's a membership level designed for the way you engage with history.

Real Stories from Real People

Real words from the members who enjoy our Society benefits annually.

We had our dream wedding at the White Pine Chapel and it was absolutely magical. The historic setting made every photo look like it was from another era — our guests couldn't stop talking about it.

Sarah & Michael T.
Wedding - 2024

The chapel is small, intimate, and absolutely beautiful. It's the kind of place that makes you feel connected to something bigger. The staff at Historic White Pine Village were incredibly helpful throughout the whole process.

The Henderson Family
Baptism Ceremony - 2023

We held our mother's memorial service here and it was the perfect tribute. Peaceful, dignified, and surrounded by the natural beauty and history she loved. We're so grateful this place exists.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Membership FAQs

We want your planning to be as stress-free as your ceremony. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often

Does my membership cover all three MCHS locations?

Yes. A current MCHS membership grants unlimited free admission to White Pine Village, the Ludington Maritime Museum, and the Mason County Emporium — all three properties operated by the Mason County Historical Society.

When does my membership begin and expire?

Memberships are valid for one calendar year from the date of purchase. You will receive a renewal reminder 2 weeks before your expiration date by email and mail.

Can I give a membership as a gift?

Absolutely. Gift memberships are available at any level. We'll prepare a gift card and welcome letter to present to them. Please directly contact caleb@mchistory.org to register your Gift Membership.

Who is included in a Family membership?

A Family membership covers 2 named adults and all children (17 and under) residing in the same household. Additional adults may be added for an additional fee — please contact us to discuss your household's needs.

How do I use my membership at the gate?

Simply present your MCHS membership card — physical or digital — at any entrance. No advance reservation is required for general admission visits. For special events that require tickets, members receive priority access and discounted or complimentary entry depending on the event and membership level. Archival research requires an appointment.

Can I join or renew in person?

Yes. You can join or renew at the admissions desk at White Pine Village, the Ludington Maritime Museum, or the Mason County Emporium & Archives during regular operating hours. We accept cash, check, and major credit cards.

Is my membership tax-deductible?

The Mason County Historical Society is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your membership dues are tax-deductible to the extent that they exceed the fair market value of any goods or services you receive. We recommend consulting your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

Mason County's History
Needs Champions Like You.

Every membership helps fund artifact conservation, student education programs, and the preservation of the buildings, records, and stories that make this community extraordinary.
