Pioneer Life

Walk through the Burns Farmhouse, Cole's General Store, the Blacksmith Shop, a working Sawmill, Lumber Camp bunkhouses, Mason County's first post office, and more — each telling the story of frontier life in 19th-century Michigan.

Board an authentic turn-of-the-century steam locomotive, tender car, and flatcar loaded with logs—then explore the Village’s Lumber Camp and 1905 Port Huron Sawmill, where the story of the industry that built Mason County comes to life.

Getting There

Located at 1687 S. Lakeshore Drive, Ludington, MI 49431, just 2 miles south of town, on the Buttersville Peninsula, along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Free parking is available on site. Accessible via US-10 west to Business-31 south.
