Artifact from the Collection

This rotating exhibit in downtown Ludington keeps history fresh and gives visitors a reason to return season after season.

History is never finished — there’s always another object to surface, another story to tell. The Artifact from the Collection exhibit reflects that belief, rotating  exhibits feature a new piece from the Mason County Historical Society’s extensive permanent holdings.

Each featured artifact is presented with full context: where it came from, who owned it, what it tells us about Mason County’s past, and how it has been preserved. The format is deliberately accessible, designed to draw in both dedicated historians and casual visitors who might not seek out an archival exhibit on their own.

If you’ve visited the Historical Society before, there’s always something new to see here. And if this is your first time, this exhibit offers a perfect introduction to the depth and diversity of Mason County’s historical collections.
