Mason & Oceana Railroad

The Mason & Oceana Railroad exhibit preserves an important chapter of local industry and transportation history.

The Mason & Oceana Railroad exhibit at Historic White Pine Village preserves an important chapter of local industry and transportation history. Once a vital narrow-gauge line, the Mason & Oceana Railroad played a key role in moving timber and goods through the region, helping to shape the growth of Mason County and the surrounding communities.

While the train on display is not the original Mason & Oceana Railroad equipment, it is representative of the narrow-gauge trains that once operated here. With the generous support of donors, the Historical Society acquired this equipment—including a log car—to help interpret and share the railroad’s story in a meaningful, tangible way.

Today, the exhibit offers visitors a chance to better understand how these rail lines supported the lumber industry and connected communities, bringing to life an era that helped define Mason County’s past.
