Cole’s General Store

Step into Cole’s General Store at Historic White Pine Village and experience pioneer-era commerce in Mason County.

Before chain stores and online shopping, the general store was the nerve center of every rural community. The place where neighbors caught up on news, traded goods, and stocked up on everything from flour to farm tools. Cole’s General Store preserves that world in beautiful detail.

The store was originally the log cabin home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clay Cole. Mr. Cole was widely known as the Grand Old Man of Summit Township; a title that captures both his longevity in the community and the deep affection his neighbors held for him. His home became his store, and his store became a landmark.

Inside, the exhibit is stocked with period-authentic merchandise, tools, and goods that paint a vivid picture of daily commercial life in late 19th-century Mason County. It’s a place where history feels touchable.
