Marchido Schoolhouse
Walk inside a real one-room rural schoolhouse at Historic White Pine Village.
Before school buses and sprawling campuses, children across Mason County walked to small neighborhood schools where a single teacher guided every grade. The Marchido Schoolhouse — built around 1895 — is one of the last surviving examples of that era in the region.
Originally located in a rural corner of Mason County, the schoolhouse was carefully relocated to Historic White Pine Village in 1973. Its simple, functional interior reflects the stripped-down educational environment of the late 19th century: wooden desks, a chalkboard, and whatever tools a resourceful teacher could provide.
Stepping inside is a vivid reminder of how education looked and felt for generations of Mason County kids, and of the vital role these humble buildings played in building the community around them.
